A baghouse dust collector uses a type of fabric filter to separate particulates from the air. They use an induced draft blower to pull dust laden air through the bag-type filter elements. This type of filter has been used for decades in manufacturing, agricultural, and industrial minerals applications.

Baghouses are categorized based on their cleaning techniques. The cleaning methods known as shaker, reverse air, and pulse jet are alternatively called gas, compressed air, and mechanical cleaning. 

The cartridge dust collectors use a pleated cartridge filter instead of bags that collect particulates which can then be discharged from the filters using a pulse- jet cleaning system. The cartridges sit in a rack-like structure where air can be pulled through the pleated media.

Cartridge dust collectors come in a variety of sizes and configurations. The smallest cartridge collectors are much smaller than the smallest pulse-jet baghouse. This can be an advantage for indoor applications where space is at a premium.

Cyclone dust collectors are designed to remove large particles before the airstream can pass through a fine filtration process.

A cyclone dust collector is a preprocessing unit in the dust collecting process where dust particles that are heavy or coarse are removed before entering the baghouse.
